Kira + Colin Married! | Garty Pavilion | Wine Theme Wedding

I was afraid the bride and I wouldn’t be a good fit.  “I’m not really a coffee drinker,” Kira said when I asked her if she’d like to meet with me for coffee at a local Starbucks in San Diego. Being a coffee lover, I have to admit that I was just a little bit wary of Kira’s statement. 😉 Joking aside, it turns out, we have a lot of things in common–with love for happy hour being one of them.

We ended up meeting at a local pub in North Park instead. Kira and Colin sat across from me, three pints between us, and we talked about UCSD where all three of us graduated (although we never met until that day), our mutual friends (it was great seeing old college friends at their wedding!), their engagement photos at UCSD, and  of course, their wine-themed wedding at Garty Pavilion. That was last summer. Now, Kira and Colin are honeymooning in Italy!

Kira and Colin got married by the San Diego Mission bay at the Garty Pavilion / San Diego Rowing Club on a gorgeous San Diego day. It is so fitting that the beautiful couple got married by the beach because of the couple’s Hawaiian ties. It’s even more perfect because their wedding venue, the Garty Pavilion has ties to UCSD, where the couple first met.

I love how the bride and groom truly made their wine theme wedding their very own. They only included wedding traditions that they wanted, putting thoughtfulness and creativity into everything. The bride and groom opted for frozen yogurt from Pinkberry rather than a traditional wedding cake. Their ringbearer and flower girls were pretty much tipping the cuteness scale. Their dogs or “furchildren”, Konah and Bear, walked down the aisle and made all of their wedding guests smile.

The wine theme of their wedding was perfectly executed: from the gifts to each of bridesmaids and groomsmen, (purse holders for the girls, and wineskins for the guys), the DIY wine charms for guests, their guest sign-in bottle and the centerpieces… The wine theme from their wedding carries through right down to their honeymoon to Italy!
