They have a playfulness about them that is so sweet to see. They have the kind of relationship that can endure cross-country moves, long distances, and a global pandemic. Katelyn and Alvin simply adore each other. They tied the knot on a beautiful spring day in San Diego.
Alvin is a Chief in the U.S. Navy and their wedding at BRICK in Liberty Station pays homage to that. Liberty Station was formerly the Naval Training Center in San Diego, and is a historical place.
Their wedding was a brunch-style wedding, which means that the party got started early. Friends and family flew from all over, with the whole day ahead of them to celebrate!

BRICK Liberty Station was a great setting for an indoor ceremony and indoor brunch reception. Steps away from BRICK are views of the marina, palm trees, and the San Diego skyline. As a San Diego wedding photographer who enjoys photographing coastal weddings, I appreciate wedding venues that are close to the beach. We drove to Sunset Cliffs for romantic bride and groom portraits and it was a great way to end the day!!!
Their wedding was colorful, fun, and sentimental. It included a unity lighting ceremony, and a traditional jumping the broom ceremony.
The newlyweds danced to “Blessed,” by Thomas Rhett as their dearest friends and family surrounded them.
Along with some guests, I cried at this wedding during the father and daughter dance, as well as the mother and son dance. Their song choices were just so touching and it was just so beautiful to document those special moments.
Their family and friends had such a great time at Katie and Alvin’s wedding at BRICK Liberty Station. Since this was a destination wedding, everyone took advantage of sunny San Diego’s gorgeous weather during their stay.
