Bright, beautiful and athletic. Renee has so much going for her. She’s a fierce tennis player and plays the violin beautifully. It was fun spending time with her at La Jolla Shores Beach on a perfect summer afternoon.
We met at La Jolla Shores Beach about an hour before sunset for her outdoor senior portraits in San Diego. The summer sunlight was perfect for our senior portraits. We continued our senior photoshoot at La Jolla Shores beach by walking along the boardwalk, stopping for some portraits in the cool trees and greenery along the boardwalk. We kicked off our sandals and walked along the beach for some sunset photos.
Renee brought along her violin and I asked her to play a song for me as I photographed her. I love the concentration and intensity that she has as she played. We even had a couple of people stop to listen to her play her violin. It’s not everyday you see a lovely violinist at the beach. Renee has been playing the violin since she was in fifth grade and plays with her high school and honor orchestras in the county. She has even played a duet on the violin at a wedding with her younger sister.
We finished our senior portrait session after a quick outfit change into some tennis gear. Renee has been playing since she was a little girl. “When I was six, my dad found old tennis rackets that he used back when he played with his brothers. He decided to take me and my sister in the courts soon after, and I immediately fell in love with the sport,” Renee said.
Renee kicks butt on the tennis court. She has competed in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments and it’s her third year on varsity…and this time she gets to be captain of the tennis team! This girl is beyond talented and I know that her parents are so proud of her.
I asked Renee for five random facts about herself. Here’s what she said:
1.) Almost everyone I’ve met has told me that I look like Lilo from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch
2.) I tend to play with my hair when I’m in a deep thought.
3.) I like chai tea.
4.) I listen to Christmas music almost all year.
5.) My favorite word is hemidemisemiquaver.
Thank you Renee, and family for trusting me to capture this memorable time in your life. You’re accomplishing so much while still in high school and I can only imagine what the future has in store for you.
