I am thankful for San Francisco traffic. Yup. Honest. I’m not being sarcastic. San Francisco traffic led me to pull over, stalk tourists for a parking spot, and take hella photos of the SF Golden Gate Bridge. Our brief roadtrip from San Diego to the Bay Area was all about unplanned, impromptu pit stops on the side of the road.
It was a chilly day in the city. We decided to drive up Twin Peaks, in hopes to enjoy a spectacular view of San Francisco. Lo and behold, we couldn’t see anything—the city was enveloped in dense fog. Thick, abracadabra-I-make-the-city-disappear fog…an authentic trick that is often pulled in San Francisco. We pulled over and stepped out of the car. The wind whipped at our faces, and we couldn’t help but laugh at ourselves for not seeing this one coming. (HAHA Or not, seeing anything at all.)
Our next stop was lunch in Castro St. at a tiny, little restaurant called, Anchor Oyster Bar. We had clam chowder and fresh oysters on a bed of ice. There were some very entertaining window decorations on Castro St…including some, uh…anatomically-correct, pant-less Ken dolls holding political pickets. Followed by a large window sign: “IT’S CASTRO, B*TCH!” Point well made. 🙂 Don’t worry, I won’t post those photos. Instead, here’s a cute dog that I met on Castro street. I named him, “Barbie”.
We then made our way to the Palace of Fine Arts. It’s such a grand place. The gigantic pillars and detailed architecture reminds me of buildings in Madrid and Barcelona.
The next day, we drove to Half Moon Bay and stopped to eat at a nearby restaurant called Flying Fish Bar & Grill where we enjoyed some fish tacos and a bloody mary. That bloody mary was especially awesome! The tacos were good, too.
Here’s a photo I took of Rex, my hubs and my favorite travel buddy.
We were on our way to visit my family when I told my husband, Rex to pull over and stop the car. We were on a two way road and pulled over to the side. While we were driving, something too pretty to ignore caught my attention: the gorgeous view of the rolling hills, a white fence that curved the land so beautifully, and the rolling fog from the sea… I just couldn’t drive on without capturing it.
Here are some images that Rex took of me from the side of the road in Half Moon Bay.
By the way, I’m going to be in the Bay Area again this month. Contact me if you would like to have your portraits taken in time for the holidays!
Hugs,
P.S. Per the title, I took “hella” photos of the Golden Gate Bridge…I’ll leave you with one last one. 🙂 XOXOXO
Awesome!
Oh SF! Despite all the times we’ve gone up there to see family, we hardly ever have time to enjoy the city and soak up all the tourist attractions and beautiful sights! I’m glad that you were able to take some time away and snap these great shots!
I’m excited to travel there with you and Kate. Sister road trip! Although, I don’t think I’ll be photo worthy in my iconic travel gear, which consists of sweats, sneakers, and the baggiest sweatshirt I can find. Pass me the chips while we’re belting out Mariah Carey songs in LA traffic. Fun times ahead!
Woot, woot! Roadtrip! Three sisters and two dogs. Sounds like a movie. HAHA
