Sarah didn’t have any make up on when I first met her. I met her at a playground in San Diego. She was in jeans and a tee shirt, flip-flops, her hair pulled back, showing her pretty face, with no make up. That, my friends is confidence, and confidence is beautiful. If a woman can walk out the door with no make up and still feel great, she’s got it. Even without make up, Sarah looked vibrant. She was bubbly, and easy to talk to. I felt comfortable around her. I think mainly because she was so open about herself. When I met her, I also met her two little girls. Little mini “Sarahs” were running around on the playground, joyful, inquisitive, and really, really cute.

She’s a great mom, allowing her two daughters to define their own personality, and express themselves. Don’t get me wrong, Sarah balances their independence and disagrees when it matters. In the hour that we spent in our first meeting, and during our portrait session, my theory was confirmed: Who run the world? Mamas.

Sarah is first and foremost a wife and mother, but we have gotten to know each other by sharing the same passion for photography. She is a also a San Diego based wedding and portrait photographer that specializes in natural light photography, and a fellow small business owner.  Recently, we decided to meet at Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve here in San Diego, California to trade business headshots and portraits right before sunset. Sarah wanted a business headshot that she can use on her photography website, as well as some glamour portraits just for fun. We both had a blast! The one thing about being a photographer is that we rarely get our picture taken. It was a treat to be able to be behind the camera and in front of it all in one sun-drenched San Diego afternoon.

Here are a few of my favorite portraits of the lovely Sarah…

You captured Sarah…that’s exceptional. She is a great mom and a military wife. She’s made of steel. She’s also my cousin. Gorgeous shots.

Christina, thank you for your note! I totally agree with you. I also love how you said that “she’s made of steel.” Nice pun on the supermom! <3
