They Go Together Like Leather & Lace | Fall Engagement Outfit Ideas | San Diego Engagement & Wedding Photographer

Think girl-next-door meets motorcycle-riding, boyfriend. Think sweet and sassy. Think ultra feminine, yet chic and edgy. That’s where my line of thinking was when I put together the following three sets of His & Hers outfits, specifically for a fall photoshoot. Leather and lace are polar opposites, but with the right balance, they make the perfect combination for a timeless and fashionable fall engagement session.

Leather and lace are classic fabrics that surpass the times. Wearing lace to your engagement session is like a prelude for what’s to come on your wedding day. And leather? Well, leather’s just badass. It tones down the femininity of lace. Plus, a leather jacket or leather boots will keep you nice and warm when we’re outdoors for an engagement session in chilly, fall weather. Combat the chill with a leather jacket, or leather boots—must-have pieces in any woman’s wardrobe.

I love the chill in the air, the changing colors of leaves, and the pumpkin spice lattes. While choosing these engagement outfits, I’ve reaffirmed that fall is my favorite season of all time. I was taking a walk with a friend the other day, and she picked up these perfect, burnt-orange leaves… The color palette for the fall engagement outfits that I put together are inspired by these autumn leaves. If you are not much of a leather-wearing jacket kind of girl, that’s OK. Start from the ground up. Wear your favorite leather boots and build your outfit from there. If you happen to be marrying a leather-jacket wearing fiance, here’s an outfit idea for him that will compliment your leather and lace engagement outfit. Bonus points if the jacket is distressed and vintage, and handed down to him by his dad. 🙂

Oxblood. I heart this color. It’s rich, classic, but unexpected. Wear it over an ultra girly lace dress and leather booties in cognac. Speaking of unexpected, pay attention to the details when putting together your engagement outfit, like wearing fun socks in a playful pattern. Show off both of your styles and don’t be afraid to accessorize.

Wear a dainty lace skirt with a blush pink blouse. Complete the outfit with a fitted black leather jacket and leather wedge booties.
