There are days when blessings are so bountiful that they must be documented. A memento to mark the memories of a precious baby’s first Easter Sunday, a father’s retirement, and a wedding anniversary. I had the opportunity to be the photographer for Shilpa and Rich, their baby boy named Omni, and Shilpa’s parents who are celebrating 44 years of marriage.
The Meditation Gardens in Encinitas, California is a peaceful place filled with exotic plants, koi fish ponds, and winding paths that lead to dozens of quaint sitting spaces. Anyone is welcome to admire the views or close their eyes and meditate. Stone benches were tucked throughout gardens, and exotic-looking flowers were everywhere.
I was introduced to the Meditation Gardens in Encinitas by one of my best friends a few years ago. Since then, I’ve returned with my family and they loved it as much as I did. I was very excited when Shilpa mentioned that the Meditation Gardens has a special place for her and her family and it’s her location of choice for a family portrait.
A long line was already forming outside of the Meditation Garden’s gates. Meanwhile, 5-month old baby Omni didn’t let the wait bother him. He kept himself entertained with his brand new shoes–twirling his little fingers around the shoelaces and putting his foot in his mouth. (Haha)
Omni has inquisitive eyes that seems wise beyond 5 months. What would you say his eye color is? I think they’re grayish blue. He didn’t seem to mind me photographing him in his Sunday best. He even let me hold him without making a fuss. (Gotta get my baby fix! I tried very hard to keep the baby talk to a minimum.)
Shilpa and Rich were married in La Jolla, California four years ago and both enjoy being near the ocean. A beautiful ocean view only minutes away is definitely one of the perks of living in Southern California.
Despite being bounced around between his mom and dad and his grandparents, Omni was mellow and calm throughout the family portrait session. It was a pleasure photographing him with his proud parents and grandparents on a day filled with lots of milestones to celebrate. Thank you Shilpa and Rich for allowing me to document a special day in your lives.
XoXo,
Kristine
