ave you ever heard of the elevator pitch? It’s a sixty second window to make a good impression. Justin’s elevator pitch was successful and lead to him winning the affections of a coworker. They met at their old workplace and an office romance became an amazing relationship. Justin and Amy have so many things in common: both love comic books, zombie books, video games, and trying new and exciting things together.
Fast forward five years, and Justin and Amy vacation in China. Justin gets down on one knee to propose to the love of his life while they’re on a boat tour on the Li River. Justin proposes to Amy at the exact moment where the famous triple-peak landmark appears in the horizon. A memento from their proposal is a Yuan banknote that pictures the same triple-peak landmark they witnessed during their engagement.
Our engagement photography session was at Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve in San Diego, California. The sun was setting and the light was perfect. The leaves in the trees are beginning to change colors for the fall season and it was the perfect fall photoshoot in San Diego.
I love that the cute couple brought a blanket, a card game to play, and a couple of their favorite comic books! Their engagement photos showcase some of the things that they love to do together, and are unique to their relationship. Justin and Amy are a great match for each other and I’m looking forward to their wedding!
I don’t always get the opportunity to hear the groom-to-be’s side of the lovestory. It’s great that Justin chimed in. Read on to learn His and Her versions of their lovestory:
From Justin, the groom-to-be:
What was your favorite memory from your proposal?
I am the worst at keeping secrets because I get so overwhelmed by the excitement that I can’t contain myself. This is why It seems that every time I try to set up a surprise, it rarely pans out. I end up dropping hint, after hint, after hint that you would have to be blind not to pick up on it. However, the proposal worked out so well. The top deck of the boat cleared out of all the random people and the drizzling rain started as I was proposing. I must say, it was quite a romantic moment.
What do you guys enjoy doing together?
EVERYTHING! We usually play video games together, go to the park to read novels or comics, and we usually try to do new and exciting things that are out of our comfort zone. This past year we went to a Monster Truck Rally and Rodeo. It was fun playing the “Let’s try to find some other asians” game. 😉
What do you love most about your fiance?
EVERYTHING! But in all honestly, yeah… everything.
From Amy, the bride-to-be:
How did you meet/how long have you been dating?
Ya, he stalked me, we worked in separate buildings, but somehow he is always hanging out in my building. Which brings me to my memorable moment, we kept running into each in the elevator and he had introduced himself to me at least a couple of times, so one time he asked me, “do you remember my name, cuz i know yours”. Embarrassingly, I did not remember his name, (I am great with faces, but terrible with names), and try to peek at his ID card to spy for his name, but he saw that coming and was covering his ID with his hand already and caught me trying to find out his name instead of remember. We laughed and I apologized for not remembering and formally introduced each again, and of course, I never forgot his name since that moment.
I had a fun time with Justin and Amy during their engagement session at Los Penasquitos Canyon preserve in San Diego. They chased each other in the field at sunset, and it was a joy to capture. It’s such a treat to hang out with these two. I hope that you enjoyed their engagement photos and reading his and her version of their love story.

[…] There are some people who you are instantly comfortable around. Justin and Amy are the kind of people whose smiles are warm and instantly makes you want to be their friend. They’re kind, down-to-earth, and completely smitten with each other. Justin and Amy are definitely two of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and I’m so happy that they chose me to be their wedding photographer.
