They met at Ariel’s old job seven years ago and became friends and later they fell in love. Ariel and Warren began dating, enjoying outdoor adventures, and trips to Disneyland. Fast forward five years and they find themselves on an airplane on a flight to the Dominican Republic. The flight attendant comes out with a tray filled with two flutes of bubbling champagne. In Ariel’s glass of champagne is a sparkling diamond ring! She was over the moon and alight with emotion at Warren’s surprise proposal. Of course, she said “Yes!” It was a moment that she won’t forget. As another special touch and a reflection of Warren’s thoughtfulness, Warren packed Ariel’s bedazzled Mini Mouse ears from their trip to Disneyland (which resembles an inside joke between them because every time Ariel wears it people think that they recently got engaged).

April showers in San Diego brought the small creek in the canyons to life. The day was perfect for engagement photos!
Ariel’s love for adventures and nature reflects their choice in choosing a woodsy location for their engagement photos. We started our session in the canyons in San Diego among winding tree roots and lush, green trees. We walked in open fields, turning gold during sunset. Throughout the session, the two of them would check on each other in between shooting, “Want me to get that for you?” Warren would ask his fiance as he is already picking something up for her. This adoration and care went both ways. It was a very warm Spring day in San Diego, and Warren was smartly dressed in a button-up shirt and blazer. Ariel would steal glances up at Warren to see if he was doing OK.
It’s the kind of love that I typically see between a husband and wife who have shared a life together for a while. They simply know and anticipate their partner’s needs.
The sun was setting behind the hills… A short drive and a quick outfit change brought us to a tunnel of trees and mountainviews where we continued our engagement session.
It was a pleasure to photograph Ariel and Warren in the natural backdrops that San Diego offers. I hope that these engagement photos capture their sweetest love.
