Alan + Michelle are Engaged!

he is boundless energy, a social butterfly, with a competitive spirit. He is relaxed, sarcasm and smarts. They met in college, and both attended cross country camp. On movie night, the two ended up sharing one chair. Attraction is keen–hyper aware of when shoulders touch, and the crinkle of a nose when laughing at a funny joke. Alan put his arm around Michelle as the movie, “Just Friends” played on the screen.  The next movie night, they held hands… That’s how it began, and the two became much more than just friends and began dating.

Four and a half years later, Michelle returns from Bolivia after spending the holidays with her family. She scans the crowd at the airport, and doesn’t find him.  They say, one of the best things about having a significant other is always having a ride to the airport. She scans the crowd again, more carefully this time, and spots Alan. She finds him standing at the bottom of the stairs near baggage claim. She smiles as she reads the sign that he’s holding. It simply says, “Michelle,” like the VIPs get.

She is boundless energy. Excited to be back in his arms, she runs towards him. He flips the sign and she nearly stops in her tracks in surprise. The sign reads, “Will you marry me?” Alan lowers to one knee at the airport, in front of travelers, welcoming her home with a diamond ring. Needless to say, she said yes! Alan and Michelle are engaged to be married, and I’m so excited to share their engagement pictures with you.

Below are a few favorites from our engagement session in San Diego, California.

The bride-to-be adores her fiance, “I love Alan’s smile and enthusiasm for the things he loves: running, science, his friends… me!. No matter what he’s talking about, whether it’s a professional runner’s Wednesday workout, a paper on liquid biopsies, or something he saw online, I’m drawn in. He’s a learner. I love him.”

Michelle wore a long white dress. It reminded me of a grecian goddess. I dropped my camera to pluck some leaves from a nearby tree to braid her a hair garland. Doesn’t she look beautiful?

We bounded up the hills to the cacti that grew wild in San Diego. As the sun was setting, the happy couple, enjoyed the views.

Alan loves how life is such blast with Michelle. “Michelle is the most fun person I’ve ever met. I love how she is able to connect with everyone she meets, her positive attitude, and her boundless energy. She is always ready to go on a run, a hike, rock climbing, paddle boarding, and outdoor activities and it makes life a blast.”
