t was four Christmases ago at a party that a mutual friend was hosting. Janeal walked into the room and noticed AJ talking with one of his friends. Their eyes lock briefly as she walked across the room to get a snack. As she walked, she could feel him staring at her. She remembers how it felt electrifying. Janeal made a quiet bet with herself that the boy who had caught her eye, was going to come over to talk to her.
Sure enough, a few minutes pass and AJ confidently walks over to introduce himself. They spent most of the evening talking and she gives him his number.
They have their first date one week later after they meet. Another week passes after their first date and Janeal finds herself saying goodbye. AJ set off to Southern California for military training, a way’s away from his hometown in Wisconsin, and from his new girlfriend, Janeal.
Each time that AJ visits Wisconsin, the two of them become closer and closer. After three years together, AJ returns from a third deployment. This time… he proposed.
How He Proposed: The two of them took a road trip to a quaint little town called Galena in Illinois. It reminded Janeal of a small town in Europe. After a romantic Italian dinner, they take a stroll around town. They find a park with a pretty little gazebo. AJ had his hands wrapped around Janeal’s petite frame and both of them were enjoying the views around town.
After a romantic kiss, nonchalantly, AJ says, “One more thing…” To Janeal’s surprise, she finds him down on one knee, right there in the middle of the gazebo. He looks up at her and asks, “Will you marry me?” She happily says “Yes!” It was such a romantic surprise! Janeal didn’t see it coming, but apparently both their families were in on it and had a hard time containing how happy they were for the lovely couple.
The happy couple love spending as much time together as possible, especially since AJ is still in Southern California. They love to explore quaint, little towns that they have never been to before. Their favorite thing to do together is ziplining. Janeal remembers how amazing it feels to seem like they are flying through the trees.
Janeal loves how even from thousands of miles away, AJ can comfort her, and knows exactly what to say to make her smile.
Janeal flew from Wisconsin to visit her fiance, AJ. Since the two of them love exploring quaint little towns, and Janeal loves the beach, they decided to have their engagement photos taken at La Jolla Shores Cove. We climbed rocks over rocks, and the two of them chased each other around on the sandy beach. We stayed until sunset, and San Diego did not disappoint. The sunset was gorgeous, and it was a fantastic ending to Janeal’s first day in San Diego.
