W
hat they both thought would be a summer romance in San Diego, turned into something much, much, more. Aaron and Kristle were both on break from attending college: Kristle was on break from UCSD, and Aaron was home for summer break from UC Davis. They crossed paths at their part-time job. (Funny thing: I was actually Aaron’s supervisor at the time. 🙂 )
Along with some work friends, they spent time at the beach and enjoyed an awesome San Diego summer. They spent a lot of time together at work, and outside of work. Aaron helped me and my sister, Kristle, move in and paint the walls of our new condo, and he even tutored Kristle in her physics class. (What a nice guy!)
Knowing that there was an end date to their summer relationship, they spent as much time together as possible. Looming over their heads was the fact that Aaron would be leaving San Diego and returning to school in Davis in the fall.
When it was finally time to say goodbye, they both decided that it was worth a try to make a long-distance relationship work. Later, Aaron moved back down to San Diego and the two of them have been inseparable ever since.
Aaron and Kristle took their engagement photos at UCSD, which is where Kristle attended college. Below are favorite photos of their UCSD engagement in La Jolla, California.
The sun was about to set and we took some photos among the eucalyptus groves near Geisel Library at UCSD.
I love these happy, laughing photos of Aaron and Kristle.
“There’s been lots of times throughout our relationship when I realize how happy he makes me,” Kristle said.
The two of them took a moment to enjoy the sunset as Aaron strummed a song on his guitar.
We then headed to Geisel Library on the campus at UCSD.
Fast forward seven years of dating…
How He Proposed, by Kristle:
“I had finished my Master’s degree and Aaron wanted to celebrate. We planned to go to Temecula for wine tasting but that morning I got lazy and wanted to stay home instead of driving up to Temecula. Aaron kept insisting that we should go out and have fun…
As a compromise, we went to a small family-owned winery in Escondido instead.
(Sidenote: Kristle agreed to go because they served great pizza. I’m sure that this is not the first time that pizza prevails, and saves the day. 😉 Thank goodness, Kristle agreed to go! Little did she know, she nearly ruined Aaron’s plans to propose. Haha)
While we were waiting for our food, we walked up to a patio area that overlooked the hills and grapevines. I wanted to take a photo of the view and when I turned around, Aaron was on one knee. I was so surprised! Now that I think about it, this winery was the same place where Aaron first mentioned he planned on marrying me. :)”
Since they both have a sweet tooth, Aaron and Kristle brought along a box of chocolates to enjoy during their engagement session at UCSD.
I asked Kristle what her favorite memory from the proposal was and she asked me, “Can I have two favorites? First, he had asked his Mom’s and my Dad’s approvals before proposing-so gentlemanly! Plus, I feel like it takes a lot of courage to ask a father for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Second, seeing him on one knee holding a little black box with his voice wavering was just adorable.”
This UCSD engagement session is extra special to me because I got to photograph my sister and soon-to-be-brother-in-law! I am elated for Aaron and Kristle. I’m so happy that they are getting married, and I can’t wait for their wedding!!!
Congratulations, you two! Feel free to congratulate and leave a comment for the happy couple below!
xoxo,
