Masood + Que | Wyndham Avenue of the Arts Wedding in Costa Mesa, CA

“L

ove changes, but don’t be afraid,” the Priest said to Masood and Que as they knelt together on their wedding day at Our Lady of Assumption Church. I enjoyed the message. It was a reminder to all couples that as husband and wife, love for each other changes, but it is not a lesser kind of love. Love grows as a husband and wife builds their life together, and that true love stands the test of time. Masood and Que are married and spent the entire day surrounded by their family and friends.

It was a day of firsts for me: my first wedding outside of San Diego, California (Masood and Que’s wedding was at Wyndham Avenue of the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA), it was my first culturally diverse wedding with a fusion of Vietnamese and Persian wedding traditions, and it was also one of the longest weddings that I ever shot (nearly 13 hours!). It was great to witness all of the wedding traditions from the two cultures.  It was a pleasure to photograph two families come together and celebrate Masood and Que’s wedding day!

We started the day at the home of Que’s parents for the Vietnamese tea ceremony. The bride looked radiant in a beautiful traditional Vietnamese dress for the tea ceremony.  During the Vietnamese tea ceremony, the bride and groom received blessings, prayed together, and were presented with several gifts–each with significance and well-wishes for a harmonious marriage. After the Vietnamese tea ceremony, we headed to church, and then to Wyndham Avenue of the Arts for the wedding reception. That’s when the party started! OK, well to be entirely accurate, the party probably started in the limousine on the way to Wyndham Avenue of the Arts with the bridal party celebrating the newlyweds.

It was a lively evening filled with toasts and lots and lots of dancing. I loved how the dance floor was packed the entire night! Below are a few of my favorite wedding photos from this beautiful wedding at Wyndham Avenue of the Arts Hotel in Costa Mesa, CA.
