He is poised and debonair in a dark navy suit. She is elegant and simply lovely in a white wedding dress and floor-length veil. Both hail from bustling New York and after getting engaged, they recently moved to Southern California.
On a beautiful day in late February, Michele and Jon got married at Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas–a newer resort and seaside wedding venue in San Diego. It sits along the coast of San Diego, with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

Alila Marea Beach Resort was a great setting for an open-air ceremony and an elegant indoor reception with gorgeous ocean views. As a San Diego wedding photographer who enjoys photographing coastal weddings, I appreciate venues that have easy access to the beach.
Their wedding was beautiful and understated. It included a tearful, private vow exchange after a first look, a tea ceremony honoring their heritage and parents, a Hawaiian lei exchange, and elegant details. Their colors were muted with blush rose and creamy white colors.
Before the wedding ceremony at Alila Marea Beach Resort, Michele and Jon had a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony with the bride’s parents.
They opted not to have a lot of formalities scheduled during the reception, which allowed them to truly enjoy each of their guests as the band played music throughout the night.
Everyone ate well and their close family and friends had such a great time at Michele and Jon’s wedding at Alila Marea Beach Resort!
