T hey tower over us. All 2,000 of their slender, but nearly unbreakable spine seem to stretch for miles. Crane your neck, and you see that the bamboo fill the skies at Hokokuji in Kamakura, Japan.

Maris and Ieris (I love that their names are simultaneously unique, and so similar to each other!) are an adorable couple with a great attitude about life. Maris has one of those beaming smiles that can kindle a friendship from across the room. With Ieris by her side, their happiness is contagious. They are playful with each other, and without a doubt, completely in love. They are celebrating their marriage in Japan with wedding portraits at Hokokuji bamboo gardens. I am so grateful that I was able to photograph the bride and groom in such a beautiful place.

Happy girls are the prettiest girls! I love the bright colors and patterns of Japanese Kimono in contrast to the bride’s white wedding dress.
