I
t was 9th grade art class. Fernando walks by Angela with a silly painting filled with aliens, a Pontiac Firebird car, and Ghost Rider saving the day. The eccentricity of it all made Angela laugh. It’s Fernando’s amazing sense of humor and ability to make her laugh that first sparked Angela’s interest 10 years ago. His humor and charisma is still what she finds so irresistible.
The two of them hit it off immediately and became great friends. It took Fernando three years to ask her out to winter formal and be his girlfriend, but there’s nothing wrong with solidifying their friendship first before crossing the friend zone, in my humble opinion.
Angela and Fernando are not only high school sweethearts, but college sweethearts. They both attended UC Davis together, and are practically inseparable. The soon to be bride and groom have shared so many wonderful memories together, and can’t wait to get married at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse on Harbor Island in San Diego.
The two of them love the beach, and chose to have their engagement session at La Jolla Cove in beautiful San Diego, California. Below are romantic photos from this sweet couple’s engagement session.
The palm trees that tower over buildings in La Jolla are iconic to Southern California. The bride and groom to be visit Southern California every chance they get.
Summer in San Diego is almost year round and many people enjoy the beach in La Jolla cove.
Fernando is Angela’s rock who she can always rely on to brighten her day no matter what. “He’s so supportive of me and always believes in me and my dreams. I can be quite the dreamer and he makes me feel like I can do anything. I love my tall, dark, handsome and very, very charming guy. :)”
How He Proposed:
We were visiting family and he decided it would be a great idea to visit our favorite burger restaurant across the street from our high school. I thought he had just gotten the hint after all the years of me raving about and missing their chili cheese fries (THE BEST in California in my humble opinion). We’d always go to this place during high school so it was really sweet to revisit our old stomping ground and nosh on some great food. After stuffing ourselves, he said it’d be a really great idea to walk it off at our favorite park growing up (and the same place he asked me to be his girlfriend). We walked around, laughing about all the fun times we had there, when all of a sudden he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! His brother and sister-in-law (who we are super close to) jumped out of the bushes with a sign, taking pictures, and we all hugged each other with tears of happiness. It was such a magical day. Hands down my favorite part was that the same place he asked me to be his girlfriend all those years ago was the same place he asked me to be his wife!
Angela is Fernando’s dream girl. “It literally was love at first sight. When she saw me walk by with a painting of ghost rider and she actually knew who that was I knew she was the one. I love how Angela shares all of the same interests I do and has introduced me to so many of hers. I love how smart and ambitious she is and she amazes me with all that she accomplishes. She is so sweet and positive.”
Fernando adores his bride to be. “She is my rock and is so darn cute. I cannot imagine my life without her.”
The soon to be bride and groom are beach lovers, dog lovers, and foodies (um, TOTALLY my kinda people). They love to cook together, travel to new places, and simply enjoying life together.
They danced at prom so many years ago…soon they’ll be dancing as husband and wife.
Angela wore such beautiful full length dresses during her engagement session and looked so stunning. I love how in this photo, her cerulean blue dress is blowing in the ocean breeze.
